Frequently Asked Questions

This page will answer questions commonly asked by students and parents.
  1. What's the best way to contact Mrs. Fair?
  2. When should I expect graded papers and report cards?
  3. How can I see my child's grades?

1)   What's the best way to contact Mrs. Fair?
You can email me at jennifer_fair@roundrockisd.org.

My phone extension is x0665. I am not able to answer during the class day, so please call the office if you have an emergency message for me (such as a change in how your child needs to go home).

You can also write me a note in your student's planner.

I try to respond to emails, phone messages, and notes within the school day you send it. However, please give me up to 24 hours to respond, as some days are full of meetings during every break and a class full of children that need my attention.    Also, I try not to check my work email at home in the evenings.  Thanks for understanding!

2)When should I expect graded papers and report cards?
Report cards come out every 9 weeks. I will send home a progress report at the beginning of the 5th week.

Composition books and folders could possibly come home on Fridays with grades on the pages, or on a rubric stapled to the top. Please look through the notebook and then send the composition book back to school the following school day, so your child can continue to use the notebook.  If you ever just want to look through your child's work, have them take it home, but please make sure that it comes back the next school day as our notebooks are used daily.

3)  How can I see my child's grades?
You can always check the Home Access online grade book.  Contact the front office (704-0600) for help logging in.   They will forward you on to Mrs. Olvera.

Grades are usually entered into Home Access as I get assignments graded. Our principal, Mrs. Varljen's expectation is that we update grades every week.  If your child has unfinished/missing work, I will mark the assignment "missing" which shows up as M.  This M = a zero until the work is turned in.  Email me with any questions you might have.

Grades are also located hard copy in your children's notebooks and binder. Worksheets are generally glued into that subject's notebook or put into our binder. The grade will be written on that worksheet. If a handwritten notebook assignment is graded, there is usually a rubric stapled to the corner of that page.
